Clean Biochar/Charcoal Production Technology

Biofuel Energy Systems has developed a plant for clean and rapid production of Charcoal / Biochar, which utilises the combustible gases given off during production for generating heat and electricity.

Conventional charcoal production is very inefficient and wastes a significant proportion of the energy within the biomass. Biofuel Energy Systems' unique process technology achieves a very high carbon conversion with remaining energy collected as a volatile gas, which is cleanly combusted for energy recovery without releasing harmful pollutants into the atmosphere. This represents a huge advancement in the efficiency and cleanliness of charcoal or biochar production.

The technology is designed for automated production at small and medium-scale biochar/charcoal production with scale ranging from 400 to 4,000 tonnes of biochar / charcoal per annum
